TRANSPORT TYCOON WEBRING
"Showing the world that TT players don't spend all of their time playing the game --
we also maintain TT webpages."

  1. What is it?
  2. How do I join?

What is it?

The Transport Tycoon Webring is a way of linking TT-related pages on the 'Net. It organizes the pages into a "ring" structure, allowing web surfers to traverse forward or backward through the pages. Webring.org provides the server for this; see their site for more information on webrings.

Anybody who maintains a TT-related page may add their page to the ring. Before they become an official part of the ring, however, they must add the TT Webring links to their page (see below).

How do I join?

If you want to join, there are two steps:

  1. Submit site information
  2. Add links to your page

Submit site information

First, you'll need to fill out a form at the Webring site.

You will need to pick out a password. After filling out the form, you will receive a User ID. You should record your password and ID since you will need them later.

Add links to your page

Finally, you need to add some HTML code to your page. Below are some possibilities, but you can design your own.

New: For the impatient, Joshua Brand (co-ringmaster), has created a page that will automatically generate the HTML code for your site. Just cut-and-paste and you're all set.

If you do in fact use one of the sample HTML snippets below, please, please, please, please, please remember to change all occurences of id=USER_ID to match the actual User ID that you are assigned. The TT Webring links will not work unless you perform this step. We can't emphasize this enough!

Sample #1: Keep It Simple, Stupid!

The Transport Tycoon Webring

Previous page | Join | Next page

Here's the code:

<CENTER><P><B>The Transport Tycoon Webring</B></P><P>
<A HREF="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=ttweb;id=YOUR_ID;prev">Previous page</A> |
<A HREF="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=ttweb;home">Join</A> |
<A HREF="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=ttweb;id=YOUR_ID;next">Next page</A>
</P></CENTER>

Be sure to change YOUR_ID to the user ID you are assigned (otherwise the links won't work).

Sample #2: Using a table
-- The Transport Tycoon Webring --
Previous page Join Next page

Here's the code:

<CENTER>
<TABLE BORDER=5><TR><TH COLSPAN=3>-- The Transport Tycoon Webring --</TH><TR>
<TD ALIGN=LEFT>
<A HREF="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=ttweb;id=YOUR_ID;prev">Previous page</A></TD>
<TD ALIGN=CENTER>
<A HREF="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=ttweb;home">Join</A></TD>
<TD ALIGN=RIGHT>
<A HREF="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=ttweb;id=YOUR_ID;next">Next page</A></TD>
</TABLE></CENTER>

Don't forget to change YOUR_ID to your user ID.

Sample #3: Graphical approach
Previous The Transport Tycoon Webring Next
Previous | Join | Random | List | Next | Next five

Here's the code:

<CENTER>
<A HREF="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=ttweb;id=YOUR_ID;prev">
<IMG SRC="larrow.gif" ALT="Previous" WIDTH=75 HEIGHT=50 BORDER=0></A>
<A HREF="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=ttweb;home">
<IMG SRC="ttweb.gif" ALT="The Transport Tycoon Webring" WIDTH=200 HEIGHT=50 BORDER=0></A>
<A HREF="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=ttweb;id=YOUR_ID;next">
<IMG SRC="rarrow.gif" ALT="Next" WIDTH=75 HEIGHT=50 BORDER=0></A><BR>
<A HREF="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=ttweb;id=YOUR_ID;prev">Previous</A> |
<A HREF="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=ttweb;home">Join</A> |
<A HREF="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=ttweb;random">Random</A> |
<A HREF="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=ttweb;list">List</A> |
<A HREF="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=ttweb;id=YOUR_ID;next">Next</A> |
<A HREF="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=ttweb;id=YOUR_ID;next5">Next five</A>
</CENTER>

If you use this, download larrow.gif, ttweb.gif, and rarrow.gif to your hard drive, and then post it along with your homepage. The graphics have to be in the same directory on the server as your homepage for the above code to work. Also, change YOUR_ID to your actual user ID.

You don't have to use the above designs. You can create your own TT Webring links. At a bare minimum, you need to have the Previous, Next, and Join links. Optional are Random, Next 5, and List links.

Once you place the links on your page, I (or the co-ringmaster, Joshua Brand) will visit and officially add your site to the ring. If for some bizarre reason you aren't added promptly, send email to us with your site ID and the subject, "I DEMAND to be added to the ring!"

To view a list of TT Webring pages, see the Index page. From there you can also change your site information.

Obligatory Disclaimer: If any harm results from the use of the TT Webring (i.e. your dog bites you), I am NOT responsible.
